Welcom to Voje Camping AS Open June 1. to September 1. GPS: North 59º 03.082' East: 009º 05.430'
Voje Camping is located along road 38, about 5 km south of Drangedal, 52 km from Porsgrunn, 80 km from Larvik. In Drangedal, you will find most shops needed for the daily life. In the Winter time, an Alpine center is located just 30 km away offering everything you can possibly want from a winter sports center. In the Summer, the surrounding forest and mountains offer berries, fishing, wildlife, butterflies not found anywhere else and frienly people. The photo shows the Administration building to the left and a small shop to the right offering ice, mineral water/Cola, chocolade and some groceries. Down beihind the buildings shown, you will find our beach shown below. The lake is about 68 square kilometers with 610 smaller islands. The lake is full of fish and it is not uncommon to catch 5 - 20 trouts per evening. Trouts up to 5,4 kiloes has been landed despite the fact that the catcher has not. CLimbing some of the local mountains, you only need to climb up to about 400 meters to be able to see the ocean 40 kilometer away. And if you want to go for a day trip to real big mountains, Gaustatoppen with an altitude of 1883 meter is well within reach of a day trip. 1 1/2 hours drive, 2 hours easy climbing, less than 2 hours downhill and 1 1/2 hour for the return drive. Want to visit a small romantic city along the coast. No problem, 40 kilometer away you will experience the real thing. Last Summer and Autumn, we buildt a new sevice facility with toilets and showers also suited for handicapped people.
Last Summer, the beach was upgraded with new sand and also expanded to nearly 50 % more than the picture shows. With only a minute or two down to the beach and a pleasant temperature in the water, our guests uses the possibility for a quick swim. Others prefere a trip on the lake and rent a boat or a canoe for up to several days for fishing, overnight trips or just for the pure pleasure of discovering mother nature.
This is an overview from Spring 2009. You can see some of our guest that have chosen a long term stay ad put in different kinds of work around their place to make life more comfortable. From time to time, some of our gusets want to sell their place which can be a bargain sometimes. You can also park your camper on long term lease and use it as a starting point for exploring the southern part of Norway. Only your imagination puts a limit to your possibilities here.
